Latest news on Eric Schmitt, who won the race to succeed US Senator Roy Blunt as Missouri senator in the 2022 election. He had served as the 43rd Attorney General of Missouri since 2019. Prior to that, he served as the 46th State Treasurer of Missouri from 2017 to 2019, and before that as a state senator from 2009 to 2017.
Born in Bridgeton, Missouri, Schmitt graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School in 1993. He then attended the Truman State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude degree in political science.
In 2022, Schmitt won the Republican nomination for Senate in Missouri, and will face the winner of the Democratic primary, Trudy Busch Valentine, a nurse and heir to the Anheuser-Busch beer fortune.
