About our GEICO news

Latest news on GEICO, which stands for Government Employees Insurance Company, one of the largest auto insurers in the United States. Founded in 1936 by Leo Goodwin Sr. and his wife Lillian, GEICO was originally established to provide auto insurance directly to U.S. government employees and their families. Over the years, it expanded its target market and now provides insurance to a wide range of consumers.

While operating independently for many decades, GEICO became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, a conglomerate led by Warren Buffett, in 1996. Besides auto insurance, GEICO offers other insurance products, such as homeowners, renters, motorcycle, boat, umbrella, and life insurance among others.
