About our Travis King news

Latest news on Travis King, a US soldier who crossed into North Korea from South Korea on July 18, 2023, without authorisation. He was being escorted back to the US to face disciplinary action for assaulting a Korean national in a Seoul nightclub and damaging a police car. He escaped from the airport and joined a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where he ran across the border and was captured by North Korean guards. He is currently being held in North Korea, which claims that he sought refuge from mistreatment and racial discrimination in the US Army. The US has not been able to contact him and is concerned for his welfare. The incident is being investigated by US Forces Korea and the Pentagon.
