He is Vice Chairman of General Atlantic, Honorary Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Exor, Independent Director of Temasek, and Co-Chair of the Partnership for Central America. He has served on the Boards of the American Red Cross, Kraft Foods, Dow Inc., and the U.S. President’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. He has been awarded the Foreign Policy Association Medal, the Padma Shri Award, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the Business Council for International Understanding’s Global Leadership Award, and the Distinguished Friends of Singapore Public Service Star.

In February 2023, Banga was nominated to lead the World Bank by the Biden administration. On 3 May 2023, Banga was elected as the 14th president of the World Bank, and started his term on 2 June 2023.
